Anyone who still thinks of a secretary as someone typing away and making coffee for the boss has it all wrong. Last year, a UWV study revealed that roles like management assistant and executive secretary rank among the most promising professions. Yet, fewer people choose this career path every year, with the image problem being a major reason why.

That's why NVDM joined forces with Calamity Jane Amsterdam. It was time to revamp the outdated stereotype surrounding the profession.

Calamity Jane gave NVDM, the community for support professionals, a complete makeover. With a new positioning, brand identity, and website, NVDM is setting out on a fresh path to debunk the misconceptions about the profession and attract younger members. The word "secretary"? We don’t use it anymore. “Support professional” captures the role far better. When you hear "secretary," you might automatically think of a woman, but – news flash – men can be support professionals too!
